Summary/Abstract: This article has been taken the question of the protection of minors against the sexual abuse perpetrated in the Catholic Church. The provisions of canon law applicable in this matter were laid down. The research on the phenomenon of paedophilia and other acts of sexual abuse was analysed. Various types of perpetrators have been distinguished, with particular emphasis on clergymen who commit sexual abuse. The possible consequences in the lives of the victims were also pointed out. As the last point, an attempt was made to summarize the protection regulations of the Church and to propose possible measures to increase the effectiveness of protection and to support the assistance provided to victims.
