Summary/Abstract: The crisis of Muslim world which is in the last few centuries reflected in nearly all fields of human activities, Muslim intellectuals try to overcome in different ways. For the difference of modernists, who seek the solution in other worldviews the restorers try to find them in Muslim tradition promoting idžtihad, and rejecting taklid, establishing difference between religious and customary practice, insisting on the strengthening of Ummah, pointing to the importance of education, fighting against formalism in carrying out Islamic regulations etc…, and all that, primarily, through reinterpretation of basic sources of Islam. One of the restorers, Šàh Waliyullàh ad-Dihlawi, is recognized by determining the difference in the normativity of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h., for his effort to reconcile and harmonize the many conflicting opinions, a great respect for previous generations and their intellectual work, but also for the attitude that it is not possible to restore the wheel of history and that life model valid in the past can not be relevant and actual for all times.
