Summary/Abstract: Muhammad Iqbal appeared on the cultural scene when Islam was in greatest threat of atheism. When the numerous Muslim intellectuals were trying to harmonize their views with atheistic tendencies, and most of them were confused, Muhammad Iqbal was one of the foremost thinkers and writers on the Indian subcontinent who stood up in defence of his people, faith and dignity. Muhammad Iqbal fought against all forms of colonialism. Exasperated at governors whom their comfort of life alienated from their subordinates they were supposed to protect, Iqbal encouraged his fellow countrymen to fight for their independence. He argued that religion and civilization can survive only in their own state. Muhammad Iqbal as a poet expressed libertarian aspirations of all Muslims around the world. In the struggle for the realization of the Islamic Revival, alongside the indispensable application of the principles of noble Qur’an, he would always add the positive scientific achievements of to the European civilization. Muhammad Iqbal realized that Islam is able to confirm consent between man and the universe. Materialistic philosophy of Europe did not enchant Iqbal although he adopted a substantial part of European culture at European universities.
