Summary/Abstract: Any attempt to penetrate into the essential nature of the various readings or qira'ats (recitations) of the Noble Qur'an, directs us to the Qur'an commentary literature, especially to the renowned commentators such as al-Tabari, al-Qurtubi, Ibn Atiyyah and others, where we meet with traditional and rational concept of interpretation of the Qur'anic text. These interpretations represent the contents and themes of elementary Quranic sciences, 'Ulum al-Qur'an', necessary for a proper understanding of Allah's speech. One of these sciences is 'ilm al-qira'at – the science treating diferent variants of pronunciation of the Qur'anic text. Mealim et-Tenzil by imam al-Begavi is one of the commentaries on the Holy Qur'an which payed much attention to qira'ats (recitations) trying to gain a perspective into their linguistic background. This paper aims to present a methodological approach to the interpretation of the Qur'an in the commentary (tafsir) written by Imam al-Begavi with an especial review of the methodology for using qir'ats for the purposes of the Qur'anic interpretation (tafsir), as well as their linguistic argumentation.
