Summary/Abstract: The place and role of religion in the context of an individual’s family life has been the subject of various scholarly analyses. While the proponents of socialization research focus primarily on the ways in which family environment shapes religious identity of an individual, others, typically psychologists of religion and family, approach individual faith as an independent factor in the functioning of family, with significant and specific impact on an individual’s attitude to marriage and family in different phases of life. Bearing in mind, among other things, the post-war revitalization of religion in Bosnia-Herzegovina, questions are increasingly raised in different sections of Bosnian society about ways in which religion structures the personalities and values of Muslim youth in general and towards family as the basic social unit in particular.
