Translation, Tafsir, and Ta’wil of the Last Seven Surahs or Chapters

Summary/Abstract: The author deals with the tafsir analysis of the last seven surahs of the Qur’an according to its tawqif schedule. This analysis was conducted according to the most famous tafsirs of the Ahl as-Sunnah wa’l Jama’ah in which the tafsir essentially covers the opinions (aqwāl) of the Prophet’s companions (ṣaḥābah) and successors (tabi’un), while ta’wil covers individual interpretations by authors versed in the core disciplines of Islamic studies (fuqaha’) on the basis of previous insight into the tafsir of the verses, the surahs and the entire Qur’an (in accordance with the methodological orientation of Imam Maturidi, which reads: at- Tafsir li’-sahabe ve’t-tawilu li’l-fuqaha’). The main sources for these analyses are: at-Tabari: Jami’ul-bejan ‘an ta’wili aji’-l-Qur’an, al-Maturidi: Ta’wilatu ahli’s-Sunne, Muhammad an-Nabulsi: at-Tafsir - Tadebburu ajatillahi fi’n-nafsi ve’l-kevni ve’l-hajat, Muhammad Mahmud al-Hijazi: at-Tafsiru’l-wadih, Mahmud Misri ebu ‘Imad, Esbabu’n-nuzul, and others. The translation, tafsir and ta’wil are conducted accordingly, thus representing the author’s complete commentary and perception of the given surah.
