Summary/Abstract: Values are one of the basic principles of man’s individual and collective existence. The importance of value attitudes for society and the individual stems from the nature and various socio-psychological functions of value categories, including their social integration potential. In the last few decades, we have witnessed alarming warnings about the crisis of values, and hence the man himself. In connection with this challenge, at the beginning of the 21st century ‒ the century of the discovery of values ‒ growing calls for more active involvement of religion and religious education in a kind of salvation of positive values and man could also be heard. To what degree religious education in schools in general, and Islamic in particular, especially in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the context of Euro-Atlantic integration, can succeed in meeting this call ‒ is an open question. The answer could be discerned in the dialectics of opportunities available to Islamic religious education teachers, on the one hand, and the challenges they face in affirming positive values, on the other. The final outcome in this regard is a matter of constant and systematic efforts in order to monitor and reconcile these oppositions.
