Summary/Abstract: In the last years the concept of „license“ penetrated deeply into the legal system of Republic of Bulgaria. The foreign legal research on the legal nature of the license is also interesting. Historical review of the legislation shows pursuit of refinement of the normative acts, which regulate issuing and the effect of licensing administrative acts. The license in banking legislation has its specific features, which are traced and analyzed in the present article. The author also probes the difference between concepts of „license“ and“ allowance“ in banking law. A detailed delineation between the license and some similar administrative acts has been made. The article points at many hypothesizes of issuing of licenses and allowances for banking business. The author also briefly reviews the procedure of issuing of licenses to carry on banking business.
