Summary/Abstract: The paper studies the course, establishment and work of the Museum of Herzegovina in the period from the ‘50s to ‘90s of the last century. Only since the founding of the museum have the conditions been created for the initial development of museological disciplines of archeology, ethnology, history and literature from which special museum departments have grown over time. With a detailed description the museum departments are presented through the systematic research, gathering and exhibition of museum material. The aim of this paper is to show the work of the museum as a representative of the Herzegovinian area that is based on the available documentation from that period
