Summary/Abstract: During its first half of a century of existence, the United Nations had to face the hardships of the Cold War. Nevertheless, the UN managed to establish basics concepts, principles, institutions and rules necessary to set the foundation for its main purpose, which is to ensure the collective security of the planet.
