Summary/Abstract: After a few years since communism fell, on the 14th of December 1994, the shepherd passed away after a 87 years long life full of hardships. His last wish was to be buried close to the place where he saw God. In 1994, the year of his death, his wish could not be accomplished. The funeral service was held by a group of 12 priests together with vicar Bishop Damaschin Severineanul of the Craiova Archiepiscopate. His body was buried in the village’s cemetery next to his wife. In 1999 Nestor Vornicescu, the Bishop of Oltenia, promised his family he would move his bones in the neighborhood of the Monastery as per his wish. After 15 years from his death, Petrache Lupu’s bones were exhumed on the 29th of May 2009 in order to be brought in the Monastery’s area. They have been deposited in a crypt where they are until today. The memorial service was officiated by IPS Irineu, Archbishop of Craiova and Metropolitan Bishop of Oltenia, together with a group of priests.
