Summary/Abstract: School books in the Old Polish period were diverse in terms of names and typology. This article identifies textbooks most commonly used and recommended by both elementary and junior high (grammar) school curricula. The publishing offers of these types of books, their editions implemented by city council printing houses (Soviet), and junior high (grammar) schools were analyzed. It was possible thanks to the developed publishing and book market, and above all those workshops that had privileges for textbooks and cooperated closely with educational institutions in Greater Poland and Pomerania. Private printers (Gdańsk, Toruń, and Elbląg) – closely cooperating with junior high (grammar) schools were analyzed. The publishing repertoire within school books focused on textbooks for teaching junior high (grammar) school students, including those popularizing the Polish language.
