Summary/Abstract: The phenomenon of youth activism, which is the result of studies of the social and human sciences, finds its place in the scientific and educational sphere. A retrospective analysis of changes in the science of youth, as the most important conditions for ensuring the continuity of generations and sustainability, the dynamics of scientific and educational processes. Recognizing its success, the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences was largely obliged to create conditions for combining the activity of the youth cohort with the institutional basis — the Councils of young scientists. The aim of the study is to reconstruct the history of the creation and development of Councils of young scientists at the Novosibirsk Scientific Center in the 1960s. The publication considers the structure of the Councils, their main methods and forms of work, determines the degree of influence of the Councils on various aspects of the adaptation of youth included in the professional scientific environment. The work mainly uses the historical-chronological, historical-comparative method. The main factor in the genesis of the Councils of young scientists was the foundation of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and the construction of the Novosibirsk “Academic town”. Since Councils, like other youth initiatives of that time, were born of a “thaw”, the growth of conservative trends in society in the second half of the 1960s could not but affect the work of this organization. Nevertheless, the article states that at the initial stage of its existence, the Councils of young scientists were not only an instrument of successful professional socialization, but also a kind of “matrix” for educating staff and reproducing ideas that later “sprouted” not only in scientific and educational sphere, but also gave impetus to the development of economic and socio-political activity of youth.
