Summary/Abstract: The Finnish and Karelian contexts of the Russo-Swedish wars have been very poorly studied in Russian historiography. The author analyzes this situation and draws attention to the need to study and compare the national historiographies of Russia and Finland in order to examine historical events and processes from the comparative historical and cross-cultural perspectives. According to the author, the joint approach by historians from both countries to the regional and local dimensions of the “history-memory-trauma” triad could help to overcome the devastating consequences of historical traumatic experiences and adjust national grand narratives, as well as mitigate the threats of history securitization.
