Summary/Abstract: Narrative analysis is one of the methods of literary criticism which has found its place as a tool in the study of the biblical text just as the new literary criticism appeared. It belongs to the so-called synchronous methods and is complementary to them. The author of the article shows its connection to the rhetorical criticism, but also that it is complementary with the so-called diachronic methods of historical criticism. The text discusses the possibility of applying this contemporary interpretative method, starting with the observation of the narrative perspective through the consideration of the relationship between the contemporary analytical approach and the ancient text to the identification of potential theological reflections of the application of this analytical method. Following these basic theoretical assumptions, the author points out examples of the fruitful application of this method to the Book of Exodus, and then illustrates this application through the example of the Sinai Pericope. In this illustration, the author points out the importance of choosing the reader’s approach to the pericope and recognizes the character of the narrative, the literary sequences that exist in the pericope, and the characters (actors of the action) in it.
