Summary/Abstract: The present research is organized in two parts. In the first part we briefly presented the moment when the cultural societies of the nationalities of the Habsburg Monarchy appeared, with a more pronounced emphasis on that of the Romanians. In the second part we presented the most significant contributions of ASTRA regarding its involvement in knowing and improving the daily life of Romanians in the Austro‑Hungarian Empire. In our enterprise we relied largely on the research published in the official journal of the mentioned cultural society, but also on other works supported and published under its auspices. Also, in drafting the article we used the existing specialized literature.
