Summary/Abstract: The accessible and fun diction exercises, which have long entered the theatrical practice, have become, through the sometimes indiscriminate use, a double-edged instrument. Effective correction of pronunciation defects in adulthood is a complex process in which it is essential to adhere to principles resulting from the corroboration of the latest information in areas such as speech therapy, defectology, phonetics and cognitive sciences. The operation of these principles is demonstrated below in the case of sigmatism, a very common category of pronunciation deficiencies. The plan for correcting the s consonant is presented in detail and the work methods for correcting the ș, z, ț, j, tʃ͡ (ci, ce) and d͡ʒ (gi, ge) consonants are briefly presented.
