Summary/Abstract: When approaching an improvisation exercise, working on a performance, or constructing a character, an actor often embodies the same level of freedom and involvement as a child at play, who simply experiments with all the various situations they see in their everyday circumstances. This allows the artist to fully utilise his or her full creative potential and find original ideas to not only express their unique vision on the task at hand but also learn about their own internal world by observing and reflecting on responses to different outer and inner stimuli. Like anything that requires training, establishing discipline is a crucial step in an actor’s preparation and developing it as early as possible, through appropriate creative exercises and games, will sustain the artist’s competence and allow them to achieve outstanding results in the art of acting.
