Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the framework of Regulation (EU) 2017/1001 in conjunction with the latest case law of the Court of Justice and the General Court of the European Union. The purpose is to examine the definition of the European Union Trademark, requirements for signs, capable to be registered as European Union Trademark as well as the absolute and relative grounds for refusal of registration by making an analysis of the case law during the recent years.
