Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to explain several characteristics of the Norwegian Progress Party (Fremskrittspartiet, FrP). It aims to contribute to understanding of the nature of this party, which helps to explain why the party entered the government coalition for the first time in 2013. First, several notes on terminology and classification of Progress Party are made; after that the article briefly summarizes the explanations of electoral success or failure of the radical right with a focus on internal supply-side factors. The second part describes ideology, leadership, organizational structure and internationalization of FrP. The last part deals with FrP's membership in the government coalition.
