Summary/Abstract: The existing political and territorial organization of Spain was outlined during the transition to democracy. The so-called State of Autonomies was result of a broad consensus among the main political actors who, willing to compromise, strived to find universally acceptable agreement. Hence, many sensitive issues were left aside, solved only partially or put on hold. And so, to some extent, the quasifederal model has an ambivalent and ambiguous nature, lacks finality in form and is short of full support. This fact alongside the age-old heterogeneity of Spanish population is mirrored in a cleavage, which stems from the different views on power and territorial configuration of the country. One of the most striking features of the Spanish decentralization is the existence of an extraordinary number of regional political parties which are not only plentiful but also relevant, albeit to a different degree. Precisely these actors are in focus of the presented article. The main objective of the paper is to discover their particular attitudes towards the State of Autonomies and identify the status they are seeking for respective mother community. Consequently, with respect to the mentioned questions, I examine to what extent we can consider these political formations a homogenous group (category), i.e. in which regards they differ.
