Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to analyze the family and family relations in the Romans and to make a comparison, by highlighting similarities and differences, with the evolution of the family institution in the Carpato-Danubiano-Pontic space. Today, the modern family is governed by new principles that have greatly altered its social profile, its sacrosanct character losing ground to the decisions that people will make in relation to their educational cultural level and interests.
