Summary/Abstract: The study examines the nature of the periodical press of the Democratic Party in Plovdiv. The newspapers Narodna Duma (People’s word) and Demokratichno Slovo (Democratic speech) are an interesting and inquisitive source about municipal and parliamentary elections in the city of Plovdiv and in our country as a whole during the years 1907–1912. The electoral policy of the Democrats in the role of opposition or ruling party is presented mainly through these two newspapers, but also through publications in other local newspapers. An attempt has been made to clarify the relations between the parties, the political culture of the electorate and other issues related to the main topic.
