Summary/Abstract: This approach aimed at analyzing what happened to the prisoners’ bodies in medieval Moldavia, from the moment sentencing to that when they were taken from the place of execution. It was considered that sentences were related to the seriousness of committed acts, and social status of the doers. In relation to these preconditions, the measures taken against the body went from simple humiliation to extreme ordeals ending in its destruction. A special emphasis during the research was placed on the exemplary dimension of the punishment, which highlighted the prestige of the court and prevented similar actions.
