Summary/Abstract: Relations between the North and South of the Danube River and Dacians-Roman population manifested and materialized through the Roman, Oriental and Byzantine protection and influence over the first and the second Millennium to The fall of Byzantium. Sheep, trade and religious links have shaped a strong relationship between Maramures county and The south - Danubian especially Byzantine. They reflect up some points today: 1) “Saint Dimitry’s feast”, 2) walking with "chiralexa” during Epiphany; 3) birthday and terminology from Maramures dialect found in the Byzantine and south - Danubian vocabulary.
