Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with a substitutional grandparenthood. It is closely associated with substitutional family care. The author, however, shows that this concept may be wider. It is based on the characteristics of the current form of grandparenthood in society and the gradual transformation of the grandparents' role. It distinguishes four dimensions of grandparenthood - biological, legal, psychosocial and symbolic. The text contains parts of case studies from the research practice of the author.
