Summary/Abstract: The article presents the trends in the development of contemporary Polish and has been divided into two parts. In the first one the author focuses on the definition of the term ‘contemporary Polish language’ and presents its characteristic features. Special attention is paid to the transition of features characteristic for mass culture into the language. The second part of the paper is devoted to Polish written texts. The author shows how the previously described traits of the Polish language function in feature articles.
