Summary/Abstract: The aim of the present article is the attempt to describe the meaning of the lexeme {uśmiech} and to show how language users conceptualise this notion. Apparently, the lexeme is used not only as a gesture but also as a word by means of which one can describe reality that surrounds us. What seems to be interesting, is the way in which language users label various kinds of {uśmiech} and the concepts to which they compare the notion. In order to analyse the collected material I used the meaning profiles method. In my paper I have distinguished eight profiles of the lexeme {uśmiech}: {uśmiech} as movement, {uśmiech} as light, {uśmiech} as a disease, {uśmiech} as taste, {uśmiech} temperature, {uśmiech} as weight, {uśmiech} as liquid, {uśmiech} as something soft.
