Summary/Abstract: Adolescence is a favourite line of research for educators, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and sociologists due to its specific challenges. One of the main issues about adolescence is the incidence of anxiety, depression, and suicide. This review aimed at finding the main aspects of depression in adolescence studied during the last two decades – gender differences, types of depression symptoms (affective and somatic), and causes of depression in adolescence – while emphasizing the most common symptoms of depression in adolescents and the most common causes of depression in adolescents.
