Summary/Abstract: The avalanche of studies on cyberbullying in the last 15 years draws world’s attention to the negative effects (alienation, anger, anxiety, depression, distress, embarrassment, helplessness, hopelessness, isolation, sadness, self-blame, self-harm, suicide etc.) of this new type of bullying, particularly in teenagers. Romania is also confronted with this phenomenon but this issue had not been tackled so far by our education scientists. In order to develop conflict solution programmes to assist parents and educators in the prevention of and/ or intervention in cyberbully cases, society on the whole needs to properly understand what cyberbullying stands for (definition, synonyms, forms), its effects on children and teenagers, and the types of prevention and/or intervention strategies needed to control or, at least, to limit this phenomenon.
