Summary/Abstract: Burebista was a brilliant king and strategist, an illustrious diplomat and political leader, who managed to prepare one of the most powerful armies of antiquity and build an effective system of strongholds. He took the high priest Deceneu as his advisor for his paranormal powers. In the years 60-59 BC he led an offensive campaign to the west against the gallic tribes that had occupied the old geto-dacian territories. He attacked them by surprise and defeated the oxens and taurists, driving them west. He then carried out a second large-scalecampaign to the east and conquered all the fortress-colonies on the west coast of the Black Sea.As a result of these bold and laborious actions, Dacia in those bright years stretched west on the Middle Danube to Morava, north to the Forest Carpathians and Dniester, east to the Bug and Black Sea, and south was bounded by the Balkans Mountains (Haemus). In Balchik there is a stone block with an inscription on the great geto-dacian king Burebista.
