Summary/Abstract: In modern social work the term "social group" is too often used and - unfortunately in most cases inaccurate. For this reason, the concept needs to be scientifically clarified in order to be used in its true sense. The social group is a basic type of social community, a real union of members of society at a certain time and place, who jointly perform one or one separate circle of public activities, based on which common group interests and value-normative system, group solidarity and sense of group identity. Each group is unique. It develops in its own way from its starting point and at its own pace. The context of the organization and society in which the group develops determines the nature and success of this cooperation.
