The Crisis Of European Ideology. Towards A Comprehensive Approach Of European Discourse

Summary/Abstract: In this article, I approach the issue of European integration from the perspective of its discourse. The starting point is the observation of the increasing relevance and intensity of the critical discourse concerning the ideology of European integration. Far from threatening Europe membership, these speeches show a high degree of internalization of the European values. They are at the same time ways out of the European ideological corset. Moreover, the global economic crisis erupted in 2008 drew attention to the need to identifying new approaches for the European issues. The historical perspective is one of them. Determination of the discursive structure of modernity established in Romanian space helps us to understand the lines of continuity and the moments of displacement occurring in the European integration process. A historical analysis must leave both a justificatory approach and a deconstructive one, relying on the comprehensive understanding of the national history. Using this approach, The European integration process exits from the limited framework of the EU institutions, revealing its political and historical significance.
