The Syria Dimension within Turkey – USA Relations

Summary/Abstract: US dimension is the most important factor that severely limits Turkey-Syria relations. The USA wants to implement international sanctions on Syria, by alleging its support for terrorism, its intervention to interior affairs of Lebanon and its willingness to acquire weapons of mass destruction. Cooperation between Turkey and Syria has started challenging the policy that the USA wants to implement in the Middle East. While Turkey advocates an approach of negotiation and diplomacy for Syria, the USA wants more severe precautions, which contain International isolation and a regime change or even a military strike.
