Summary/Abstract: Following the technological development, the communication to the public of intellectual property works has rapidly evolved, from the use of traditional means of communication such as transmissions via Hertzian waves, satellite or cable, to the use of the Internet, which required specific regulations at an international, european and national level. In approaching the present study, I resume some ideas from a previous study on the communication to the public CJEU regulation and practice – existing in 2017 (I) as the basis of analysis of Directive (EU) 2019/790 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 laying down the rules for excercising the copyright and related rights applicable to certain online radio and TV transmissions of broadcasting organizations and to certain retransmissions of radio and TV programs and amending the Council Directive 93/83/EEC.
