Summary/Abstract: During this short study, the author brings to the attention of contemporaries the personality of Oscar Jaszi. Born in Transylvania, Jaszi asserted himself as a sociologist, political scientist and historian, laying the foundations of the Hungarian National Radical Civic Party (1914), carrying out a sustained political activity with Count Karoly Mihaly in the direction of carrying out reforms with a deep social, economic and institutional character and a fair policy towards national minorities was also considered . Following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the fall of 1918, Jaszi was appointed member of the Hungarian National Council and minister without portfolio, responsible for minority issues in the Karoly government. On November 13-14, 1918, Jaszi led the Hungarian delegation, which held negotiations in Arad with the representatives of the Romanian National Council, trying unsuccessfully to determine the stay of the Transylvanian Romania in Hungary. The failure of the government, the coming to power of Bela Kun and later of Miklos Horthy led Jaszi to analyze the post Trianon situation in the spirit of changing the paradigm regarding future relations with neighboring countries and a sincere and principled reconciliation with a view to reconstructing and establishing a new regional balance.
