Summary/Abstract: The author of the paper considers the absence of educational ideal as a serious problem of contemporary pedagogy. Historically (in the Greco-Antic period, during the Judaic-Christian era and in the modern times), the educational ideal has always been explicitly named in social awareness and philosophy. The postmodern period is baffled in the direction of the educational ideal.
