Investigation of Individuals' Eating Attitudes during the Novel Coronavirus (Covid19) Day

Summary/Abstract: In addition to complying with social distance and hygiene rules, balanced nutrition of individualshas gained vital importance in the field of protecting their health during the coronavirusoutbreak. In this context, investigate the attitudes of individuals eating habits in Turkey has beenthe main purpose of this study during the coronavirus pandemic days. Also, determiningwhether individuals' eating attitudes differ according to demographic characteristics is anotheraim of the research. The study population consists of individuals to reside in Turkey. Samplingwas preferred due to the individual's workload, time constraints and similar reasons. Theconvenience sampling method was chosen in the study, online survey is designed in order toprovide ease of reaching out to the different provinces of Turkey. In this context, 546 valid surveyswere reached between July and August 2020. In addition, IBM SPSS version 23 was used in thisstudy for demographic findings, descriptive findings regarding the scale used, and confirmatoryfactor analysis of the scale and analysis of differences. Analyzes have shown that the eatingattitudes of the majority of the individuals participating in the study during the days ofcoronavirus tend to eat emotionally because of negative emotions such as loneliness, stress andmorale. In addition, it was determined that the gender, marital status, age, income levels andprofessions of individuals during the coronavirus pandemic had an effect on their eatingattitudes, while educational status did not have an effect on eating attitudes.
