Materials to the Catalog Description of Manuscripts Excerpted for Bibliotheca Homiletica Balcano-Slavica (BHomBS). I. Triodion Panegyric from the Hilandar Monastery No. 190

Summary/Abstract: This is the first of a series of articles containing materials supplementing the catalog of Bibliotheca Homiletica Balcano-Slavica (BHomBS) prepared by the Cyrillo-Methodian Research Center. The aim is to describe and introduce the hardest to process and the hardest to access South Slavic triodion panegyrics discovered by the BHomBS compilers. The article is dedicated to a Serbian old redaction triodion panegyric from the library of the Hilandar Monastery No. 190 (Хил190), containing instructive works. MS Хил190 is presented and described in detail. Each article is compared with the texts in the respective reference books and the place of the composition of Хил190 in the Balkan tradition of instructive collections is established. Additional data are presented from the related to Хил190 Serbian triodion panegyric from the State Historical Museum in Moscow, collection of Barsov No. 1456, which is similar in content but preserved only partially.
