Summary/Abstract: The article contains linguistic notes on the names of the elements of clothing of participants in the ritual of Anastenaria (bulg. nestinari), communicated to Mikhail Arnaudov in 1914 by two respondents from the villages of Kosty and Yatros who witnessed the rite. The names of the garments show numerous borrowings from different languages spoken in the Ottoman Empire. Combined with the knowledge about the isolation of both the ritual and the Greek language of its original speakers, these names are used to shed additional light on the origin and the nature of the Anastenaria rite.
