Summary/Abstract: The article depicts four selected German authors and shows by their autobiographical prose the role of the city in the author’s personal topographies. Their connection is Bromberg as their place of living and their linking to the faith of Prussian civil servant families. Their autobiographies are only a pretext and vehicle for the analysis of the image of Bromberg.
