Labour Justice in the First Republic

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with courts operating in the Czech Republic in the field of labour affairs. These courts were established by the Law no. 131/1931 oJthe Collection of Laws and Regulations concerning judiciary of labour-, service-, and education-relationship lawsuits (i.e. of labour courts). The introductory part of the article describes the processes and ways of establishing labour courts, and also the structure of the labour courts. The Jollowing part contains definition of material competence of the labour courts. These courts were competent in making decisions concerning labour-, service-, and education­relationship lawsuits, if these relationships were based on civil law contracts between an employer and an employee. In the third part the author defines local competence of these courts. In the jourth part associate judges are dealt with. Special attention is paid to the ways and processes of their appointment, their security, and possible sanctions against the associate judges applied in cases of their failure to execute their duties properly. The Jollowing part contains a collection of some regulations concerning labour court suits. The concluding part contains a couple of considerations de lege jerenda, concerning especially the associate judges.
