Bartolomeu Anania and re-education in Aiud. A documentary perspective

Summary/Abstract: The article aims to analyze a controversial episode of Bartolomeu Anania’s biography, respectively his activity in the context of the Aiud re-education, using exclusively documentary sources from the Securitate archive, both from Bartolomeu Anania’s and other detainees’ files, as well as from the Documentary fund, belonging to the Aiud Operative Group. According to these documents, which confirms the memorialistic perspective on Bartolomeu Anania reeducation, he had a marginal role in reeducation, in agreement with his new identity position (he had detached himself from legionary affinities since the 1940s), limiting himself to: supporting a benign autobiographical statement, Ilie Niculescu’s „clarification” regarding the incompatibility between Christianity and Legionnaires, respectively signing a short text about Corneliu Codreanu in the „Book of Reeducation”.
