Summary/Abstract: Metropolitan Bartolomeu Anania, a tenacious servant of the Church, toughened in trouble and invincible in trials, was justly surnamed by the abbess Ierusalima Ghibu „the Lion of Transylvania”. He was born on March 18, 1921, so a hundred years ago, from parents Ana and Vasile Anania, in the village of Glăvile, Vâlcea County, receiving the name of Valeriu at his baptism. This year marks the jubilee of a century since his birth. The article mentions several moments from the spiritual, cultural, literary and administrative mission of His Holiness.
