Summary/Abstract: In this article our aim is to lay out the development that begins from the formations of the self as a person and ends with the constitution of the authentic self. Firstly, through the analysis of Martin Heidegger, we show the way in which our social and cultural engagement dictates our way of being and therefore provides the making of the inauthentic self, which is devoided of choice. At the same time, we show how the inauthentic Heideggerian self is what Giorgio Agamben calls a person, understood as the social role that we play and that is acknowledge by others. Secondly, we will try to show how we can overcome the inauthentic self through a moral instance that Heidegger calls the calling of the consciousness. This is also the proper place in which we should mention the problem of angst, specifically because it is that which makes the functioning mechanism of the inauthentic self crumble, but also brings out the authentic possibilities of the Dasein. Thirdly, following the path laid down by Jean-Luc Marion, we will argue that the calling of consciousness can be lost if the subject that is called to an authentic way of being is not receptive to it. After this endeavor, our interest lies in the ambivalent gesture of the inauthentic self which, according to both Agamben and Heidegger, dose not renounce the world, but evades from the impersonal sphere and at the same time participates in the world in a way in which he manifest the most genuine possibility of being
