Summary/Abstract: Serious illness often leads to the long-term or even lifelong separation of life partners/seniors after decades of living together. No studies have yet addressed the specific situations in which the long-term cohabitation of partners/seniors due to deteriorating health is disrupted or even prevented by insensitive administrative intervention. This article aims to analyse the situation concerning the protection of the privacy rights and family lives of senior patients/clients/service users in the Czech Republic and to recommend the appropriate measures. The authors of the article draw attention to the serious, but often overlooked problem of the forced long-term or even lifelong separation of senior couples and discuss the relevant legal and moral aspects of such events and the potential for finding solutions. The information obtained indicates that this issue is an objectively verifiable problem, which currently lacks an appropriate systemic solution in Czech society.
