Summary/Abstract: Reconfiguration and rediscovery of the ethnic identity of the Romani in Romania after December 1989 has brought into debating also the image of India as the old space of their origin. The present research deals with the representations of that space in the case of various Roma peoples, on the basis of the interviews in the first project of oral history concerning the Romani in Romania.
