Summary/Abstract: The present study outlines the life, activity and theological work of Saint Basil of Poiana Mărului, an important representative of the Romanian hesychasm, founder of holy places (churches, hermitages and monasteries) and skilled interpreter of the theological works of the Holy Fathers. The first part is devoted to biographical elements. I consulted both international and local bibliography, taking into account the correct interpretation of sources and insisting on the role that this saint, canonized by the Romanian Orthodox Church in 2003, had in the history of Romanian hesychasm. The second part of the study provides information about the theological work of Saint Basil of Poiana Mărului and identifies the Slavonic and Romanian manuscripts in which it has been preserved to this day.
