Summary/Abstract: The paper explores the changes in the situation of Bulgarian short feature film at the turn of the twenty-first century from various viewpoints. The first aspect is film funding from different sources with different requirements: Bulgarian Na-tional Film Center, National Culture Fund and Bulgarian National Television. The second perspective is their presentation at various festivals in Bulgaria: Jameson Awards, SIFF; Short Film Section, Golden Rose Bulgarian Feature Film Festival; In the Palace ISFF, Balchik; FILMINI; Film Section, Bela Rechka Festival; Early Bird Student IFF. Focusing on film novels, omnibus-films and experimental films, the paper presents young directors, who, making their debuts early this century, are expected to create a New Wave in Bulgarian film in the decade to come: Nadejda Koseva, Svetla Tsotsorkova, Kamen Kalev, Dimitar Mitovski, Dragomir Sholev, Nikolay Todorov, Toma Waszarow, Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov.
