Summary/Abstract: The article applies methods of collective biography to examine the professorial body at the academy or (since 1623) university in Altdorf between the years 1575 and 1809. The subject of the analysis is the geographical and social origin of full-time professors, their pursuit of education, and their life careers, including the execution of offices. In closing, the article takes a position on the question of whether or not Altdorf can be called a ʼfamily universityʼ.
